White Water Rafting

One of the most enjoyable ways of experiencing the thrills and spills of fast moving white water is through white water rafting.

Using a four metre inflatable raft, a crew of between four and eight persons will descend the 700 metre course of fast flowing white water under the supervision of a qualified Raft Guide.

With our capacity to run four rafts at any one time on the rapids, we can cater for large groups. Your safety is paramount, all our Raft Guides are governing body qualified, and undertake continuous training by our own guide trainers.

Water Skiing

Water Skiing (No need for a boat!)  The aerial cableway pulls you around the lake, so all you have to do is hold on.

This allows us to put up to four skiers on the water at any one time. You will start on dry land before being pulled onto the water by the Cableway. Depending on experience and ability you will have the opportunity to try kneeboarding, skiing and wakeboarding.

Our staff will explain how the Cableway works, skiing techniques and relevant safety information before letting you have a go yourself. The Cableway runs around the outside of the ski lagoon, where in most places you will be able to touch the bottom of the lake. However we insist that you must be water confident with the ability to swim

Sailing

The National Water Sports Centre is an accredited R.Y.A training Centre with the best sailing instructors. 

The courses we offer are Start Sailing for the beginners, Basic Skills for those who have a little sailing experience.  Do both courses back to back in the same week if your up to it.

Customers booking a Basic skills will have to produce a Start Sailing certificate upon arrival.

Canoe & Kayak Courses

For those who are interested in learning or furthering their knowledge of Kayaking our top class facilities and instructors make the National Water Sports Centre the place to learn.

The surroundings will make your experience even better, being located next to the River Trent provides you with the opportunity to venture off track and explore the fast flowing river.

Introduction to Kayaking - 2 Days @ £100.00 per person

This course will introduce you to the equipment and basic skills of Kayaking.

Kayaking - 2 Days @ £100.00 per person

This is the next step up from a 1 star paddler.

This course will ensure you become a more skilful and confident paddler and teach you more complex skills in the water.

At the end of the course you will have the opportunity to gain a Governing Body award either a 2 or 3 Star qualification.

Minimum age is 16 years

This year we have introduced Kayak courses for 8 -16 year olds.

With an emphasis on fun and learning to get them interested in the sport.

Our expert coaches will ensure the highest level of tuition is delivered and hopeful we will see them returning on a World Class training programme.

RYA Power Boating Course

As one of the most popular courses we run, this weekend is designed to equip you with all the basic skills and background knowledge to become a competent powerboat driver. No previous experience is needed for this course. This award also forms the basis of the international certificate of competence.

You'll learn how to launch and recover from a road trailer, high and low speed manoeuvres and seamanship skills such as man-overboard recovery, anchoring and the emergency stop.
Shore-based sessions will include instruction in engine maintenance, practical use of charts and compasses, tidal and weather interpretation and legal requirements
